Russell Burgin spoke to the Floyd Rotary Club about his first three years at West Point Academy. He explained the focus of each year at the Academy starting with Plebe, then soldier, followed by scholar. Each year is spent in studies and activities around the focus. This summer he will be going to Germany to shadow a US Army leader. Russell has applied for a Rotary Scholarship and hopes to go to Cambridge University and major in Political Thought after graduating from West Point. Upon graduating from West Point he will have the rank of 2nd lieutenant in the US Army. He will be expected to serve 5 years of active duty and 3 additional years of reserve duty after graduation.
